It’s hard to think nowadays of life without Age UK, supporting older people to be independent at home, and helping their families with practical advice and services to make life that little bit easier.
When we first knew them, the charity was less well-understood so we worked with them to help them gain awareness of what it was they could offer. We wrote, designed and produced a full range of materials from simple leaflets and postcards to practical information packs about how to cope when first home from hospital, posters to go up in surgeries and community centres, and display panels for Age UK supporters and staff to use when explaining their mission.

Most importantly from our point of view, we launched ‘The Hoot’ in 2007, a quarterly magazine full of information about activities and events with a mailing distribution of 1,500 copies per issue, and an estimated readership of over 7,000. During our years working with the charity it has always been paramount that everything is clear to understand, friendly, non-scary - at a time when many readers are fearing the future, and looking to get hold of help as simply as possible.
